Welcome to the CRC Forum Web Page

Your forum membership will provide you with in-depth information in your specialty area and the opportunity to network with others who share your interests. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in a wide-variety of activities helping to shape ACRP programs. These activities include: planning sessions for the annual meeting and special interest seminars, creating newsletters, preparing article(s) or a column for The Monitor, conducting surveys of members' development and professional needs, electronic information exchanges, and writing monographs and position papers.

CRC Mission Statement

We Invite You to Present at One of ACRP's Chapter Meetings

The Association of Research Professionals recognizes the fact that our membership is our greatest resource for education. Each of our members is an integral part of the clinical research team. Forum members are unique in that they have designated a special interest that they are particularly interested in/a part of. Therefore, we ask that you be willing to share your expertise and knowledge with others who possibly do not have as much experience, or simply would benefit from learning from your experience. The ACRP Chapters are constantly looking for speakers to come and present on various topics at their Chapter meetings. They also recognize that Forums are one of the greatest resources to find speakers. If you would be willing to present at a Chapter meeting, please fill out the speaker release form, and include the information that it asks for and email, fax or mail to the Chapters and Forums Coordinator, Megan Markowski (fax: (703) 253-8101) or 500 Montgomery Street, Suite 800, Alexandria, VA 22314. Your information will not be shared with anyone who is not a member of ACRP. Thank you for your consideration.

Preliminary Results of the Clinical Researcher Coordinators' Survey

Clinical research coordinators (CRCs) play a key role in clinical research — they support, guide, and motivate research participants while ensuring that studies are carried out accurately, and with scientific and ethical integrity. There is currently a paucity of descriptive data available regarding the specific roles of CRCs. In order to better understand these roles, we developed a CRC survey that will enable us to learn more about their characteristics. Here we present the preliminary findings of the survey and describe how we plan to use this tool to further investigate the role of the "modern" CRC. (Clinical Researcher 2003;3(4):18-22.)

Part 14: A Survey of Clinical Research Coordinators — Part Two

In the February 2003 issue of Clinical Researcher (Vol.3 No.2), we published a survey designed to provide insight into the role of the modern-day clinical research coordinator. The results were published in the April issue (Vol.3 No.4). At that time, 143 responses had been received. This number has now grown to 239. The results were also presented as a poster at the 2003 Symposium of the Annual Meeting of the Society of Research Administrators International in Pittsburgh, PA, USA, on October 18-22, 2003, where the poster was adjudged to be the Best Poster by the symposium award panelists. This indicates to us that coordinators are both keen to share their experiences and that the research is recognized as being of significant value to the clinical research enterprise. Closer inspection of the initial questionnaire revealed that some of the questions failed to capture the most useful data and some key questions had not been asked. In the light of this, the questionnaire has been redesigned, and resubmitted to and approved by our local review board. (Clinical Researcher 2003;3(11):a-b.)
