The ACRP Gulf Cooperation Council Chapter was launched on 3 May 2007 in Dubai, UAE, in the presence of some 40 local and regional attendees.
Presentations were given by Carl Naraynassamy, Director European Office, ACRP on ACRP’s mission in the world today; Dr Nadia A. Malek Younis from the Regulatory Affairs department of the Ministry of Health, UAE on ‘Clinical Research For Evaluation Of Medical Products, the UAE Regulatory Perspective; Dr Rudaina H. Alrefai, Director of Regulatory affairs, DUBIOTEC on the Regulatory Framework at DuBiotech and Dr Shakhar Gothoskar, Director for Medical and Drug regulatory affairs, Middle East Regional Office, Boehringer Ingelheim Clinical Trials — on the Industry Perspective.
The GCC Chapter earlier elected Maha Al-Farhan as Chapter Chair. Mrs Al-Farhan is well known in the region as a keen proponent of Good Clinical Practices. Mrs Al-Farhan stated that the presence of the ACRP in this region will have a positive impact on professional and personal development of local members. The Chapter will be aiming to provide:
Mrs Al-Farhan will prioritize networking and ensure that the local clinical research stakeholders get to know each other and work hand in hand in order to advance the clinical research enterprise and good practices.
