About the Singapore Chapter
ACRP and Bilcare consolidated its presence in Asia by opening its third ACRP Chapter in Singapore on 19th December, 2007. The Chapter inauguration took place on the premises of Bilcare Singapore Pte Ltd. Mr. Thomas Adams, CEO & President and Sara Kilkenny the Manager of Development, attended the inauguration on behalf of ACRP.
Singapore is a dynamic city rich in contrast and color, with a harmonious blend of culture, cuisine, arts and architecture. Brimming with unbridled energy, this little dynamo in Southeast Asia embodies the finest of both East and West. Singapore is an ideal location for clinical research and clinical trials management in Asia. Besides offering the basic essentials like a consistent business environment and an excellent communications infrastructure, it also has a pool of highly skilled manpower, an established regulatory infrastructure and a strong intellectual property protection regime.
All these factors have prompted many global leading pharmaceutical players to set up their regional clinical trial centres in Singapore to engage the region, including: AstraZeneca, Aventis, Eli Lilly, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck & Co, Novartis, Novo Nordisk, Sanofi-Synthelabo and Schering-Plough. Setting up a Chapter of ACRP is important in view of the extensive involvement of these companies in clinical research. Additionally a large number of employees from these organizations have revealed an interest in joining ACRP as members as well as taking the certification examination.
