CRA Certification Exam Review
Shay Brill has been involved with clinical research for over 13 years. While at PRA International, Shay has developed a broad experience in clinical operations, working first as a CRA, then as Lead CRA, and a functional manager. In October 1999, Shay became a member of the Staff Development team and has been involved with developing and training global clinical programs across the PRA International. Most recently, Shay has returned to clinical operations as a director to manage staff in North America.

Liz Wool, RN, BSN, CCRA, CMT, has been active for 18 years in clinical research positions in sponsor companies, investigational sites, CROs, and academia. She is president of the ACRP Northern California Chapter, and author of Good Training Practice 101: A Primer for Employee Training Plans published in the Monitor, June 2008. Liz is president and CEO of QD-Quality and Training Solutions, Inc., which offers SOPs, standards, and training services to investigational site staff, sponsors, IRBs and CROs. She has been a faculty member in the clinical research programs at University of California Berkeley, University of California Santa Cruz, and San Francisco State University, a program advisory board member for UC-Berkeley’s program, a member of the Society of Quality Assurance’s GCP speaker’s bureau, and a GCP Track Session Chair at the Annual Drug Information Association (DIA) Meeting, 2008.

Paulla Davies, CCRC, has been involved in clinical research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital since October 1999. For her first 6 years, she was a CRC devoted to conducting pediatric clinical trials in a diverse variety of therapeutic areas. Ms. Davies earned CCRC (Certified Clinical Research Coordinator) status in November 2001, as well as becoming one of two Clinical Team Leaders in the clinical research unit. In 2005, Ms. Davies became the Clinical Operations Manager with direct oversight of the clinical research unit at NCH. Currently her role is that of Associate Director of Clinical Research Services at NCH which involves not only oversight of the clinical research unit, but also includes institution wide clinical research education, training, and quality improvement development and implementation. Her prior background is in teaching, and administration of several programs for at-risk youth. Ms. Davies belongs to the Association of Clinical Research Professionals and holds a degree in teaching from The Ohio State University.

Tammi Jaynes, RN, CCRC, has worked in the healthcare industry for twenty years, with a focus on critical care nursing and clinical research, becoming a Senior Training Specialist specializing in clinical training for INC Research. In her present role, she has developed and implemented several training programs for Clinical Operations. Having worked at both the site and CRO levels, Ms. Jaynes has a thorough understanding and appreciation for the issues and considerations that are required for a successful clinical research program. Ms. Jaynes obtained her BSHS in Clinical Research Administration at George Washington University in 2005.

CPI Certification Exam Review
Nadina C. Jose, MD, CPI has been involved in the clinical trial industry for more than twenty years. She has participated in over two hundred clinical trials in various therapeutic areas. She served as the Director of Clinical Research for Western Clinical Research Incorporated and Doctor’s Urology Group Research Foundation for 10 years; where she oversaw all aspects of clinical trial activities. Then as the President and CEO of Research Strategies Incorporated, a dedicated clinical trial support service company; she provided the overall management of clinical trial service delivery to various community based medical groups, hospitals and academic facilities in various cities in the United States. Her work with RSI likewise afforded her the opportunity to provide clinical trial services in several countries in Southeast Asia and Latin America. In 2008, Dr. Jose decided it was time to focus on one of her passions, which is education. She then took on the position of Associate Dean and is responsible for overseeing the development and management of the curriculum as well as teaches in some of the courses offered by the School for Clinical Research at the American University of Health Sciences. She has also taken on the role of Clinical Strategy Manager of Medicus Research LLC where she will oversee operations, business development, strategic planning and training. Dr. Jose is an active member of the Board of Trustees for the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators (APPI) and Past-Chair of the Education Committee of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). She is also a member of the Board of Advisors for a privately held biotech company, One Unlimited Incorporated based in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Jose is also a Certified Instructor by the State of California and a trainer for ACRP sponsored courses.
