Washington, DC – The Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) is raising awareness of clinical trials and recognizing the accomplishments of clinical research professionals in a special USA Today supplement highlighting clinical trials.

In its editorial contribution, “Who Are Our Clinical Research Professionals?,” ACRP hopes to raise awareness of clinical research as a profession by turning the spotlight on clinical researcher professionals.

“Raising public awareness of clinical trials is the focus of many initiatives, yet by and large the people who carry out clinical trial operations remain unsung,” writes ACRP Executive Director Jim Kremidas on behalf of ACRP.

“Clinical research professionals have specialized training in Good Clinical Practice, the international ethical and quality standard for clinical trial conduct,” continues Kremidas. “Many have earned certification as specialists in clinical research, an achievement demonstrating an ongoing commitment to excellence, professionalism, ethical behavior and patient safety.”

The USA Today special supplement on clinical trials will run December 18-20 in major markets across the United States, including New York, Chicago, Washington, DC/Baltimore, Los Angeles, the Carolinas, South Florida, and Philadelphia.

“We hope our contribution helps change public perceptions of clinical research and helps build the trust that is so critical to realizing the value clinical trials have in shaping future healthcare,” says Kremidas. “Clinical research professionals should be proud of the heroic roles they each play in medical innovation. They should be recognized as professionals who take their obligations seriously in their drive to continuously improving health care and quality of life for all.”

ACRP is also proud to co-sponsor advertising thanking clinical research professionals and volunteer patients in collaboration with the Center for Information & Study of Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP), EMD Serono, Inc., Janssen Pharmaceutica, Benchmark Research, DrugDev, Praxis, cpp inc., and Horizon Pharma.
