The Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) and Greater Gift announce a new partnership to raise awareness of clinical trials among the greater public through the PopUp Star competition.

The partnership will support public outreach around the world through localized events starting May 20, 2019 in celebration of Clinical Trials Day.

“Greater awareness of clinical research is critical to the continued development of new medicines,” says Jim Kremidas, Executive Director of ACRP. “We’re thrilled to embark on this new partnership with Greater Gift to launch PopUp Star to raise greater awareness at the grassroots level.”

Today’s news follows ACRP’s recent launch of a groundbreaking new initiative to expand the clinical research workforce by raising awareness of clinical research as a career option among healthcare and life sciences students (details).

“Without an adequate pipeline of qualified, competent professionals, our community will fail both to sustain the workforce and to improve the efficiency and quality of medical discovery,” Kremidas says. “Clinical Trials Day is a great opportunity to recognize the professionals behind medical innovation, to help grow the workforce of tomorrow, and to increase awareness of clinical research as a care option.”

PopUp Star is an industry-sponsored contest to bring clinical trial awareness to the masses by challenging stakeholders to lead teams that will create the ultimate clinical trial community awareness event. Diverse teams from across the world will compete to raise awareness of the importance of clinical research as a care option within communities.

“Clinical trial awareness cannot happen without all of us, which is why Greater Gift has joined with ACRP to further advance the competition – bringing it to new heights and with greater impact. Engaging more professionals in the competition will help us reach our goal of finding effective pathways for adoption of clinical research as a care option,” says Amanda Wright, Executive Director of Greater Gift.

ACRP’s 13,000+ global members and chapters are encouraged to participate in PopUp Star events.
