The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) “encourages diverse patients to participate in medical device clinical trials,” the agency says in part of a new series of videos released to the public this week (November 23).

Diversity “can help inform the safe and effective use of these medical products for the diverse population of patients that use them,” the agency says.

Patient engagement is part of the daily business at the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). “We engage with patients in many ways and their input has lasting impact on the work we do,” CDRH says.

In the short videos, patients share their experiences partnering with CDRH as well as the impact their input has on enhancing CDRH’s ability to evaluate medical devices and monitor their safety.

The videos are:

  • FDA Devices: Our Commitment to Putting Patients First
  • FDA Devices: Welcoming Patient Voices Today and Every Day
  • Medical Devices Clinical Trials
