It is a well-known industry fact that two of the top reasons patients don’t participate in clinical trials are distance and length of visits. As a result, study recruitment and retention suffer.

Some companies want to solve this problem by conducting entirely virtual, or “site-less” trials, which would completely eliminate the use of clinical research sites altogether.

But this doesn’t have to be the future. ACRP knows the value experienced and trained research site professionals bring to the industry is not replaceable.

Research site staff that are capable of conducting study visits remotely/virtually will have the leverage to compete against a “site-less” future.

In dedication to the continued sustainability of the global clinical research site community, ACRP has added a member benefit that will give you this ability.

VirTrial is supporting research site professionals by enabling them to conduct hybrid virtual trials, allowing some study visits to be conducted remotely by using telemedicine to perform a video chat between the patient and site staff.

VirTrial’s Virtual Care Platform, which offers a patient management program combining video, text and email for clinical trial site professionals to easily address specific patient and study needs in a secure environment, is transforming the use of telemedicine in the clinical research industry.

VirTrial’s platform is now available to all ACRP members at no cost. Your site will take 15 minutes to complete four brief training modules, which will earn you a certificate showing you as virtual capable.

Once the training modules are completed, you will receive an email with your Virtual Capable Certificate and a badge to attach to your email signature and post on your research site’s website. This will indicate to sponsors and CROs that you are a Virtual Capable ACRP Member and thus your site is also virtual capable.

VirTrial will regularly provide sponsors and CROs with a list of virtual capable sites when discussing hybrid protocols. We believe most future protocols will have a telemedicine component.
