Opportunity to Collaborate with the O*NET Data Collection Program

ACRP is proud to offer an unprecedented opportunity for our members and the broader clinical research community to help ensure that the occupational data maintained by the U.S. Department of Labor accurately reflects your role and responsibilities.

We are collaborating with the Occupational Information Network (O*NET®) to identify Occupational Experts (OEs) who can provide detailed insights into their professional duties. This input will help update and validate the information in the O*NET database, which is widely used by employers, Human Resources professionals, career counselors, labor market analysts, and individuals exploring career paths.

As an OE, you’ll be asked to complete a set of questionnaires about your field of expertise. Ideal candidates typically have five or more years of experience and may also have served as supervisors or trainers. Your insights will help assess tasks, knowledge areas, work context, and activities associated with your role. Currently, O*NET is reviewing two key roles:

Clinical Research Coordinators

Description: Those who plan, direct, or coordinate clinical research projects. Direct the activities of workers engaged in clinical research projects to ensure compliance with protocols and overall clinical objectives. May evaluate and analyze clinical data.

A random sample of experts responding to this request will be invited to complete a set of questionnaires. Experts who are selected and agree to participate will receive a $40 VISA gift code and a certificate of appreciation from the U.S. Department of Labor.

Clinical Research Coordinator Volunteer Opportunity

Medical Scientists, Except Epidemiologists

Description: Those who conduct research dealing with the understanding of human diseases and the improvement of human health. Engage in clinical investigation, research and development, or other related activities.

A random sample of experts responding to this request will be invited to complete a set of questionnaires. Experts who are selected and agree to participate will receive a $40 VISA gift code and a certificate of appreciation from the U.S. Department of Labor.

Medical Scientist Volunteer Opportunity

If you are interested in learning more and volunteering for either opportunity, please respond by September 26, 2025.

This initiative is a vital step toward gaining federal recognition for clinical research professionals and ensuring their contributions to the healthcare industry are accurately represented.

In 2024, ACRP requested the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics establish a detailed occupation code for the role of Clinical Researcher under the 29-0000 Healthcare Practitioners and Technical Occupations code, for possible revision in 2028. Read Submission Letter > Read Press Release >
